This animation is the most labor intensive that I have ever done in 2D animation so far. My process for making this animation possible included the technique of rotoscoping. I took video footage of an actor performing a skateboard jump trick, falling to the ground, and then getting back up to try again and successfully land the trick right. In Adobe Photoshop, I used the brush tool to draw over the actor’s poses, as many per second that I could. About half way through, the screen goes black and the character is shown to have melted and morphed into a werewolf. This portion was still utilizing the original actor’s poses, but the added features such as the melting, fur, tail, ears and overall wolf details were done without references. For this piece to be my first 2D rotoscope animation, I am very proud of it.
